I love sunny California

So since my last post, I've had a baby (Dec. 20th, 2005) and we're now on our first vacation with him. His name is Wyatt Jefferson. He's a super cute little dude. I didn't realize how much having a baby in December in Minnesota would really be tough, but with the cold and snow and the unknowns of a new baby, I haven't spent much time outside the house.

Which is why I'm so happy to be in sunny California! It's beautiful out and Wyatt has spent more time outside here than in his whole two months of life! It's made him sleep and eat better and now I suppose I must contemplate a move to CA or time spent at the mall back in MN.

We're visiting my brothers-in-law who are the cutest kids ever. They are 13, 10 and 8 and are a total blast. They love their new nephew and dig holding him and playing with him. The 10-yr-old is interested in changing his diaper and carrying him around. They are just great.

We are scattering my father-in-law's ashes today at Point Lobos. It will be a sad moment, but also probably a very beautiful one. He was a great man and a great dad and it's really sad that he didn't get to meet his grandson, but I really feel like he is looking in on us with pride and love. And my step-mother-in-law is such a great person that it is so fun to be with the family and to really feel like we will all remain a family even with our loss.

So that's it. If it wasn't so bloody expensive to live in California, we'd move out in a heartbeat -- well I think we would. It would be really hard to move away from my family in MN, but it's good to change things up sometimes. But I can't see ever being able to afford to live out here in the same way we live in MN, so for now, we'll visit and February seems like a great time to do it!
